A Sliding Friction Predominates Wire Production

In wire production a sliding friction predominates at every point where the wire comes into contact with a support, usually in the form of a guide. Friction creates heat, promotes wear, and wastes power.  Indeed, according to the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, 1/3 to 1/2 of the total energy produced in the world is consumed overcoming friction. While we were unable to cite a similar statement in wire production, it is desirable to reduce as much friction as possible, not only to save energy but most importantly to upgrade the quality of the wire.

Friction Reduction by Diamond Polishing

We at COSMOS are specialists in friction reducing components made of wear-resistant materials which, when applied to wire production, are known as Wire Guides.

Diamond polishing creates on the wire guide a mirror-like working surface which Reduces Friction, Eliminates Wire Damage, Upgrades Wire Quality and which, when deployed along the entire line of production, not only minimizes machine downtime, but also saves the overall power consumption.

Is Diamond Polishing Expensive?

The cost of diamond polishing has been reduced substantially since we initiated it 40 years ago, due to:

                        1.   A lowered cost of the diamond grits
                        2.   An improved, energy saving, diamond polishing process innovated at COSMOS

Our services can best be employed but need not be limited to wire production.  The demand for friction reduction is a universal phenomenon. For example, our guide nozzles are used in medical surgery equipment production.
